"Due Date" (USA, 2010)

Look ! It's Tony Stark and that fat beardy guy from the Hangover ! You've seen the Hangover right ??? Well this isn't as funny as the Hangover sorry, but it's getting there.
Well by now I think we all like Robert Downy Jr.(RDJ), we've accepted him. He's like an old friend we used to know who moved away somewhere for a few years, came back and is still a familiar lovable fellow. Recently having very decent performances in Iron Man and Sherlock Holmes is fair enough but how is he in Due Date ? Well he plays a slightly arrogant every man, who's a little hyper or mentally repressed maybe but under the circumstances he deals with most incidents rather well. And that's what this film is; a series of highly awkward, uncomfortable, & near fatal incidents caused almost entirely by the emotionally deranged, accident prone and hapless wannabe actor Ethan Tremblay/Chase(Zach Galifianakis). I say almost entirely because things seem to run smoothly until these two men are put together, like flammable liquids to a fire when combined there's a potential hazard and that's when the hilarity ensues here. Due Date refers to RDJ's journey from Atlanta to Los Angeles to be present at the birth of his first child. Will he make it ? Or will he be too late/humiliated/emotionally scarred/arrested/seriously wounded when he loses his wallet and agrees to get into a car with Ethan, his masturbating dog plus freshly cremated father contained in a coffee tin ...
I like this directors refreshing humour definitely. I'm sure you will too if you need cheering up and liked his previous films Road Trip, Starsky & Hutch and The Hangover. A well rounded giggle-fest of slightly mis-matched but fun characters that does just enough to entertain the whole journey.

PLUS POINTS: awesome soundtrack & driving stoned sequence !
