"The Resident" (USA, 2010)

It's horror time ! HAMMER horror, but is it still like Hammer ? Must be, look there's even Christopher Lee ! But wait, it's not even really horror, more like an average voyeuristic thriller, still though there is Hilary Swank not wearing much (look she got to me since Karate Kid 4 okay) oh and some fun with a nail gun !
This film does the trick, it does what it set out to do which is hold your attention long enough for it's duration to pass, make some creaky noises in a dark spooky flat and give you that unnerving feeling of being watched. It just feels like we've seen it's type many times before. In fact it's quite apt that it comes from ancient horror label Hammer because it feels pretty old school, like it could of and probably was made years ago, other than Swank & her groovy android phone reminding you that it's modern day, it just feels old & more than a little stale. Like I said however, it does it's job adeptly enough. A glance at the films poster alone gives away the proceedings pretty much so no points for surprising outcomes but an enjoyable thriller none the less !
